(My fanfics suck, but whatever, lol! The title comes from the Rascal Flatts song 'What Hurts the Most',and this fanfic is kinda like what I plan to do with a character later on...)
It was about 9 pm when Jess stormed out of Warren's dorm, and headed out of the mansion. Warren didn't bother to try and stop her,and just sat on his bed. They'd had their first real argument, which had turned into a fight...and Jess just needed to get out of there for a while. So,once again,Brooke had decided to take care of Liz while she was gone.
Jess got in her car and shut the door, putting the key in the ignition. Turning the key,the car started up,and Jess pulled out of the garage. She drove through the front gates, and started down the road. She was going a little over the speed limit, but she didn't care at that moment. All she'd done was try and help him with the pain, trying to help him get over Demeter...and he'd snapped at her. She was just trying to be a good friend to him, like always. Her vision was blurred a bit as tears formed in her eyes,a few sliding down her face. She wiped them away, just driving straight ahead, not caring where she ended up.
Jess was hardly paying any attention at all,as a truck was coming in the opposite direction, being driven by a drunk. She didn't notice them swerve in front of her, until the lights became brighter. Jess tried to swerve and avoid them, but the truck hit her with full force. Her car flipped three times before it stopped,off-road. Jess was stuck inside, and she was being crushed by most of the car. By the time the police got there...it was too late.
The police found as much information as they could on her,and two of them drove their car to the mansion, because that's where her home seemed to be. One of them knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer.
Warren opened the door, and stared at the cops confusedly. "Something wrong, officer?" he asked, having a jacket to hide his wings pretty well.
"Actually, there is.." he replied, taking off his hat.
Warren's eyes widened. The first thought that came to his mind was that something had happened to Jess. "W...what is it?" he stuttered, stepping back to let them come in.
"Are you Warren?" he asked.
Warren nodded. "Y-yeah...why?"
The officer looked down at a picture he'd found in the girl's wallet,of herself and Warren. His name had been on the back of it. He looked back to him, with a sad look on his face. "Did you know this girl?" he asked, showing him the photo.
"Yes,I do. Jess. What happened to her??" he asked, grabbing the photo.
"I...I'm sorry. The girl was in...an accident.." the officer said sadly.
Warren's eyes widened. "An accident? Is she alright??"
"By the time we got there, she was already..." It was hard for the officer to finish.
Warren forced himself not to cry,and looked down. "No....no...it can't be..." he whispered.
"I'm so sorry..." the officer said, starting to leave.
"Yeah...so am I..." Warren said, very sadly. He couldn't help but think back to when they'd first met...and to the fight they'd had earlier...he felt terrible.
Warren walked back into his room, and noticed a folded up piece of paper on his desk. Hesitantly,he picked it up and unfolded it.
I saw you
That's what it said on the paper,in Jess's handwriting. I saw you... Warren thought to himself...remembering something..
Flashback:
Jess sat in the passenger seat of the car,and Warren was in the driver's seat. They weren't driving...they were in front of a house, where Jess was going to stay for a few days. They were just sitting,talking...
"Something wrong?" Warren asked.
"No.." Jess shook her head. "....Do you ever think about the future?" she asked, looking at him, waiting a moment. "What do you see?"
Warren laughed softly.
"I'm serious." she said, nudging him lightly.
Sighing,Warren thought for a moment. "You." he said, smiling. "What about you?"
Without giving an answer,Jess got out of the car and smiled, grabbing her bag. Waving back to him,she walked towards the house.
"Hey,you didn't answer!!" Warren called,laughing.
Tears welled in Warren's eyes as he remembered everything that had happened with himself and Jess, and he lay down on the bed,to try and get some sleep.
